Week 13 – Overall

June 10, 2008

Over the past 13 weeks, Project Sunfish has evolved many times through countless ideas and research. Our research for the project was to a very high level and I have learnt much in all environmental issues covered. I have also learnt much about group work and how the group can handle a project much smoother. The issue of sustainability and recycling were the main focus and how we can implement an interactive design outcome that would educate and inspire people to lead a more sustainable lifestyle.

Being in hospital for several weeks, and the incurring weeks of medical interruptions meant there was a loss of communication from me for an amount of time. This was a difficult time, but I managed to be back to produce the video and design the report with the rest of the group. We are very proud of the work we have completed.

Use. Create. Re-Use.

April 23, 2008

This is our mid semester video for Project Sunfish. It is based on our slogan of “Use. Create. Re-Use”, meaning that we are creating something new from goods that have already been used and discarded. Every part of the project so far has been created with unwanted goods, even the tripod to support the camera was created with a milk crate, wood, a car battery, some scrap concrete and old tape. Now thats Project Sunfish.

We decided to take the same approach towards packaging the dvd, using completely unwanted goods.

Project Sunfish is about finding alternative ways to use unwanted goods with the intent of inspiration, sustainable education and design. This is only the beginning.

Found these two interesting posts about recycled urban furniture and sustainable style.
Worth checking out, as this is one direction that is a positive move towards using waste that would normally been thrown straight to the dumpster.

Week 6

April 17, 2008

Not a good week at all. My illness has returned after feeling well for only a week. I got checked out after the conditions got pretty unbearable again; it only took one night for them to flood back, and am now on some pretty hardcore drugs.

My medications is doubled, 6 pills, 3 times a day. As well as the jelly stuff and strepsils every now and then. This double dose has knocked me pretty hard and havent been able to function all week.

I return to Melbourne on Friday to shoot the video for our project with the team. Should be pretty exciting to be back. Until then. Oh…and I need an operation for my throat. WORD!!!!

Peace.
